tasmanian discovery tours

Freycinet marine farm is situated on the Greater Swanport River estuary on Tasmania’s pristine East Coast. The waters of the Moulting Lagoon bird sanctuary bound it on the upstream side and the oceanic waters of Great Oyster Bay on the down-stream side, providing the perfect mix of waters to grow the perfect Pacific Oyster.

The farm consists of nearly 100 acres of water, divided into 6 different lease areas, all with their own characteristics and strengths. It is these individual characteristics that we are harnessing exclusively for Pure South.

In these oysters you will find a unique briney-sweet flavour and uniform shell shape much sought after in the connoisseur’s world of oyster consumption.

Pure South’s knowledge and commitment to quality and it’s desire to furnish the end user with the freshest and best produce possible has so impressed us at Freycinet Marine Farm that the two businesses have decided to form an agreement whereby Pure South will have exclusive access to one of Freycinet marine farm’s growing zones.

This particular zone, named in our farm catalogue as Pelican Island (after the Pelican rookery found near there), has been set aside to allow only visitors to Pure South to experience the fabulous oysters produced in this wonderful area of the farm.
